Woohoo! We’re getting hitched!
Welcome to our wedding website, we can’t wait to celebrate our special day with you.
We’ve created this website as a convenient and interactive way to share all of the important details with you about hotel, flights and events leading up to our wedding. So have fun, take a look around and don’t forget to RSVP and book your room with Melinda! Finally, and most importantly – thank you for your ongoing love and support. We are so excited to share this day with you and look forward to fun in the sun and dancing the night away with all of our favorite people!
As the story goes… once upon a time…
Our love story began in DC, back in 2018. Jay was a enjoying some much needed bro time in ‘Tent City’, where Alex was working with the vendors during Police Week.
I know it’s hard to imagine, but some flirtatious banter was exchanged back and forth over some drinks and dancing. After a couple of hours, Alex left (insert ‘mic drop’ here). Some days later, with finger wringing, lip biting, and lots of nervous sweat, Alex and Jay reconnected in One Loudoun. Okay, just kidding, that was only Jay ;). When Alex finally got the nerve to ask Jay for his number, (I mean, whew, finally?!) he simply could not resist and was so enchanted by her emerald eyes he (read: very willingly) agreed! And the rest, as they say, is history!
What should you wear you ask?… Semi-Formal Beach Attire!
We’re getting married on the beach, so expect sand, wind and plenty of sunshine. No formal attire! Feel free to dress in whatever makes you comfortable and feel schnazzy. For example, a dress shirt and linen pants, or a sundress and sandals would be perfect. The night does tend to get a bit windy and cool, so you might want to bring something to throw on when the sun goes down!
Gifts, schmifts!
No presents please (no, like, really), just your loving presence. Your good wishes are the only gifts that we wish to receive. As appreciated as your gifts may be, they are not needed. The presence of our family and friends is more than we could all for to make our day special.
With regard to our littlest angels…
Per the guest limit at our venue, we will not be able to have children attend the main event nor reception. However, if you are traveling with your children to our wedding, please contact the resort ahead of traveling to coordinate childcare during the event. Also, we joyously welcome your children to our welcome reception and rehearsal dinner. Above all, don’t hesitate to let us know how we can further help!

The Grand at Moon Palace Resort
The Grand at Moon Palace Resort is a 5 Star resort just a short 10 minute transfer from the Cancun airport and it is sure to impress! Your package to Alex and James’ wedding at The Grand is ALL INCLUSIVE and includes, but is not limited to: Luxury Room Accommodation, round trip private group transportation from the airport (shared group transfer exclusive to guests of Alex and James’ wedding), unlimited food and beverages, premium wines and spirits (you’ll have a liquor dispenser and minibar in your room), 24-hour room service, daily and nightly entertainment, non-motorized water sports, taxes and gratuities, wireless internet, international phone calls to the Continental USA, Canada and Mexico are all included.
In addition to your all inclusive package, each room will have a resort credit that you can use towards spa treatments, tours or dining experiences. For example: a private candlelight dinner for 2 or a fish pedicure. ** (restrictions apply)
You’ll also have access to any of the other Palace Resorts in the area (transportation is included for MOON PALACE, but not included for other Palace Resorts) if you decide you want to play at another resort for a day

Guest rooms are luxurious with a double whirlpool tub in every room, a separate sitting area, a minibar that is restocked daily along with CHI hair products in every bathroom. Alex and James have secured a block of rooms at The Grand at Moon Palace for their friends and family. Please note that Palace Resorts will charge each guest for wedding events if they are not booked within Alex and James’ resort room block (this includes booking directly with the resort). Our wedding group rates are inclusive of private functions for all guests booked into the room block at no additional charge.
Resort Credits
Each Room will receive a resort credit that they can use towards golf, spa, candle light romantic dinner, upgraded wine, selected wine and photo package memories. The amount of your resort credit is based off of the number of nights that you are staying at The Grand at Moon Palace.
3 nights would receive $500 in resort credit per room.
4 nights would receive $750 in resort credit per room.
5 nights or more would receive $1500 in resort credit per room.
9-11 nights would receive $2,000 in resort credit per room.
**Credits must be redeemed on property and hold no cash value. Credits can be used for specified Resort Credit Tours, Golf, Spa in the Resort Credit menu (only $250 of the credit may be used at the spa). Based on availability and there is a 16% tax/service charge on items purchased with the resort credits. Restrictions apply

Flight information
Dreams and Destinations Travel can gladly assist provide airfare to Mexico. If you choose to book your own tickets, please fly into Cancun International Airport (code CUN). We will need your flight confirmation to confirm your round trip transportation from the airport.

If you select YES to the travel insurance, please add the per person cost of insurance to your initial deposit amount. Insurance has to be paid with the initial room deposit.

Travel Insurance
Cancel for any reason insurance must be purchased with deposit. Insurance is highly recommended as travel suppliers, airlines and resorts often charge fees for trip change/cancellation after payment has been made. Dreams and Destinations Travel Agency is not responsible for penalties or fees should you change or cancel your trip. The cost of insurance is nonrefundable and insurance policies are non-transferable. Travel insurance does not cover rate increases due to changes in occupancy. In many cases the cost of insurance is less than the cost of penalties for cancellation. Insurance must be included in your initial deposit. Insurance rates are per person based on your per person resort costs. If you add flights to your resort package then insurance will be adjusted to cover the total per person package cost (resort and flights). Please see insurance deposit example below.

5 nights swim-up room, double occupancy + estimated airfare of $600 per person = Per person package cost of $2380. Insurance cost = $99 per person. Per person deposit $199.

From May 10th on there is 100% penalty for room cancellation
